(372 words) The heroes of N. Nekrasov’s poem “Who needs a good life in Russia” met on their way the “hero of the Holy Russia” Savely, whose image is of great importance in the work. It embodies the basic qualities of the Russian people, which distinguish it from all others. On the one hand, these properties are the key to happiness, and on the other, the curse of the common man.
At the time of the action of the poem, Saveliy is already a century old man. He lived a turbulent life that led him, proud and courageous, to humility and repentance. As an ordinary peasant, he was completely subservient to the German clerk. Barin sent him to manage his lands. Vogel for 17 years of activity completely ruined the wards. Exhausting work and the black ingratitude of the chief prompted Savely and other men to crack down on the oppressor. In this situation, the phenomenal patience of the Russian people is manifested - they have endured a terrible attitude for almost two decades! But here also appears another, dark side of the soul of the Russian man - the senselessness and ruthlessness of the rebellion, about which A. Pushkin spoke. They buried a living clerk in a pit, which he ordered to dig. Then the hero and his friends were sent to penal servitude, which, with all its torment, did not break the spirit of these people. Savely doesn’t impose penalties on penny: “There’s a bad shit,” he laments. It is also known that he fled several times, and the punishment did not bother him either. This indicates the courage, endurance and fortitude of a simple Russian peasant. His craving for freedom and internal independence amaze and compel him to admire as a national hero. But after hard labor, life in the settlement and all the dramatic events, he comes to a difficult test - the torment of conscience. They were awakened by the death of his great-grandson. Savely did not finish, and pigs ate Demu. Then the strongman and the thunderstorm of the settlement begins to hide before our eyes and constantly disappears on the grave of the boy. He is aware of the guilt not only of Matrena, but of the whole Christian world for the blood that stained his strong hands. The unshakable moral basis of his character makes itself felt when we see the scale of his repentance: he leaves the world in a monastery in order to completely surrender to grief and regret.
The potential of Savely is enormous: he learned to read and write in jail, and had a remarkable strength. But such a hero needs to set the right direction, because they themselves can not complete their rebellion to the end, they can not produce it honestly and without unnecessary cruelty. Therefore, the intercessor of the people is Grisha Dobrosklonov, who should persuade the people to good, which follows from his surname.
