In this collection, any student will find for himself an essay about his favorite book. At each point (except for grades 6–7, where the opinions of the respondents agreed on “Harry Potter”) there are two options for an essay: for a girl and for a boy, as representatives of different sexes have different preferences in literature.

For boy(156 words). Recently, I read an entertaining book by the Russian writer Tolstoy AN, which is called "The Golden Key, or the adventure of Pinocchio." I really liked this book. It tells about the adventure of Pinocchio - a boy made of logs by Papa Carlo.
At the beginning of the book, Pinocchio behaves like a child. He decides not to go to school and sells his alphabet. Due to the fact that he did not obey his father and did in his own way, he was deceived by Fox Alice and Cote Basilio. Then he almost caught the bloodthirsty Karabas-Barabas. Fortunately, friends helped him: Pierrot, Malvina and Artemon. Pinocchio met them by chance, trying to hide from the villains in whom Lisa Alisa and Cot Basilio dressed.
It all ended well. Pinocchio, thanks to the help of the Tortoise Turtle, found the key and opened a new puppet theater, to which everyone was invited. He has become smarter and prudent. Everyone got what they deserved. Good heroes were happy, and the main villain Karabas-Barabas was left with nothing. Therefore, I liked this book: everything is fair and reasonable in it.
For girl (163 words). My favorite book is a fairy tale by H.K. Anderson's Thumbelina. This is a work about a little girl. She had to overcome a lot in order to eventually find her happiness.
Thumbelina stole a toad to marry his son. The heroine managed to trick them and escape. The May bug helped her fly away from the water lily, which then left her alone in the forest. Winter was approaching. The mouse did not allow freezing Thumbelina. She took her to her. Soon the girl was again offered to get married. This time for a neighbor of a field mouse, a blind mole. If the wedding took place, Thumbelina would have to spend her whole life underground. From marriage, the poor thing was saved by a swallow. The heroine found this bird in the dwelling of a mole. She saved her from death and helped her fly away. Swallow became a good friend for Thumbelina. She, learning about the trouble, took Thumbelina with her to the warmer climes. There, a little girl met an elf and healed happily.
What I like most about the book is that it teaches us that, in spite of all the difficulties, we need to remain kind, responsive, and believe in the good.
Grade 4-5
For boy (186 words). My favorite book is The Wizard of the Emerald City by Alexander Volkov. It seems to me that this fairy tale teaches the most important thing - friendship. Together, Ellie and her friends were able to cope with all the difficulties and realize their desires.
Ellie's girl falls into a magical land due to a hurricane. There she made friends with the Scarecrow, Ironman and the Cowardly Lion. Each of them has his own dream. The scarecrow wants to find brains. The lumberjack wants to get a heart. And Leo dreams of becoming brave. Ellie - get home. These desires unite the heroes. Only a wizard could execute them. On the way to him, friends overcome many difficulties and become a real team. They support each other in everything. Cohesion helps them not to despair and go to the end even after they learn that the wizard will not be able to fulfill their desires. But magic is not magic, but belief in oneself.
This is an interesting book with a good ending. The wizard did nothing to help the heroes, but they themselves were able to fulfill their dreams. They just lacked self-confidence. That is what friendship has given. The scarecrow, Leo and the Lumberjack were invited to rule by different peoples, whom they helped along the way. Ellie, thanks to the help of a good sorceress, returned to her home.
For girls (171 words). The tale of Sergei Aksakov “The Scarlet Flower” I read with my mother before bedtime. This is my favorite book. This is a fairy tale about good and evil, that you can not judge a person by his appearance.
The main character of the tale is the youngest daughter of the merchant, Nastya. She asked her father for the most unusual gift - a scarlet flower. The father could not help but fulfill the wish of his beloved daughter. True, in return for the flower, the monster in the garden of which the merchant plucked a magic plant ordered him to return. But Nastya loved her father very much and could not allow him to suffer because of her. She herself went to the monster, which actually turned out to be an enchanted handsome prince. The girl’s sincere love broke the spell. To the envy of her sisters, she married. We played a bright wedding.
I really liked this fairy tale because in the end, sincere love was able to overcome everything. Good won, as it should be. The youngest daughter of the merchant found happiness with the prince. Father was happy for her. And the malevolent sisters could only envy aside. So it should be in life: good triumphs, and evil is punished.

For girl or boy (200 words). Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is one piece from a series of books by the world famous writer Joan Rowling. You may wonder why I chose her, because she is not the first and not the last. But this story seemed to me the most interesting and entertaining. In my opinion, this part is not only riddled with magic, but also has the features of a detective.
This time, the goal of the adventure of Harry Potter and his friends is to find a secret room and the culprit of attacks on students. At the heart of this is the legend that at one time a boy studied at the Slytherin faculty at Hogwarts, who believed that this school should be accessible only to purebred magicians. For this he was expelled, but rumor has it that in the school building he created a secret room in which a terrible monster lives. This legend turns out to be true, and, as usual, in the center of the disclosure of a strange incident is Harry Potter. With the help of Hermione’s quick wits, Ron’s support, and Albus Dumbledore’s hints, Harry Potter defeats the basilisk - a huge poisonous snake that can kill by sight.
The most fascinating thing in this book is the search for the secret chamber and the reasons for the development of strange events at Hogwarts. While reading, I tried to guess and get to the truth faster than the heroes. The appearance of new victims is heating the atmosphere, and the fight against the basilisk is the culmination, after which everything becomes clear.

For boy (245 words). The fantastic work of Alexander Belyaev “The Head of Professor Dowell” became my favorite book after I plunged into its atmosphere. In it, the unusual follows even more surprising. The incredible experiments conducted by the scientist are described in such a way that you become convinced of the possibility of their real implementation. That is why Belyaev for me is the best Russian science fiction writer. I read many of his works, but it still remains a favorite.
It is surprising that the main character of the novel is not a person, but only part of it - the head, as stated in the title of the work. Professor Dowell is a great scientist doing scientific experiments. He had an assistant, Kern, who was not afraid to wrap Dowell's death in his arm. Kern performed the operation and separated the professor’s head from the body. From that moment on, the head was enclosed in a transparent flask and found itself in the full power of the evil scientist. The professor was forced to help his former ally, and now the enemy, in his new experiments on separating heads and arranging their lives without a body. Kern wanted to become famous by arrogating to himself the achievements of another person, but by a happy coincidence he did not succeed. There were people who were ready to expose the liar and discover the truth, despite all the difficulties. So Kern was taken to clean water, and the truth triumphed, although this led to a great sacrifice. Getting rid of evidence, Kern with the help of drugs changed the head of Professor Dowell beyond recognition, she died from this.
It seems to me that this, on the one hand, an entertaining novel with a fantastic plot can be read to rest and relax, but, on the other hand, it unobtrusively teaches one simple truth: the truth will always triumph.
For girls (222 words). War is our past that must not be forgotten. I like military prose. This literature helps the imagination to find itself on the field of hostilities and feel what was happening almost a century ago. My favorite book is Boris Vasiliev’s novel “Not Listed”. It does not contain a detailed description of military events, but with its sincerity it evokes the most powerful emotions.
The focus is on Nikolai Pluzhnikov. This is a young man, a lieutenant who came to military service in Brest. June 22, 1941, the Great Patriotic War begins. Nicholas heroically defended the fortress, and, along with other detachments, conducted constant skirmishes with the enemy. The forces of the German army outweighed, and Soviet soldiers perished one after another. Soon, the only defender of the fortress was Nikolai. Despite the fact that he was alone, he still made sorties and with all his might exterminated the enemies. This went on for 9 months. By chance, once again hiding from the enemy, Pluzhnikov was in the same casemate as the girl Mirra. They fell in love, were expecting a baby. Unfortunately, she was unable to get out of the besieged fortress; the Germans brutally killed her. Nikolai was also found, and he was killed.
Boris Vasilyev’s novel ends with words about how important it is to remember why soldiers loyal to their homeland perished. But this work tells not only about the hostilities taking place in the Brest Fortress, but, more importantly, about the life of a particular person who endured all the difficulties of the war with honor, having fulfilled his duty.

For boy (287 words). Orwell’s novel "1984" is unusual in that it is written about the past, present and future at the same time. Each reader can count in his own way. It is not disputed only that it describes the life of people living in a system of absolute totalitarianism. Moreover, it is essential that the author looks not only at the structure of the state apparatus. The focus is on the life of a frequent person - Winston Smith.
The novel gives a rather detailed description of the ministries supporting the closed existence of the country and its inhabitants: the ministry of peace, truth, abundance and love. These state organizations control all spheres of life, monitor not only the present, but also correct the history depending on the current foreign policy situation. They control the entire personal life of their people. However, strangely enough, the desire for complete subjugation of the population does not protect the state from the presence of free-thinking people who want to change the political system and their private life as well. Winston becomes one of these people. He finds true love, which is also, of course, prohibited. Together with her lover, they try to join the opposition society, but pretty soon they are in the hands of the government.
The scariest moment in the novel is the conclusion of the protagonist. This moment is terrified not so much by the fact that Winston and his beloved were imprisoned, but by the punishment intended for them. They were not imprisoned or sentenced to death, as one might think. They chose a much more severe fate. Through torture, physical and, even worse, psychological influences of the heroes, they were forced to admit the wrong views and sincerely abandon them. It seems impossible. But ... nothing is impossible.
Orwell paints before us not only the bloodthirsty world of total control over the personal life of the people, but, even worse, it shows a society in which they even follow the thoughts of citizens. Although, if you think about it, then people who do not have their own desires, feelings and thoughts, blindly obeying the will of the ruler, can only be called creatures ...
For girl. (288 words) Why are we reading books? How to choose your favorite from so many works? There are no answers to these questions, and there can be no definite answer. It seems to me that we call a beloved a book that we read at the right time, thanks to it, perhaps we were able to discover something new in ourselves, solve a problem, or find an answer to a long exciting question. For me, Tolstoy’s novel “Anna Karenina” turned out to be such a work.
In the novel, the story is not only about the personal life of the main character, as it may seem from the title of the work. It has several storylines that are closely interconnected. In parallel, a story is being told about Kitty Shcherbatskaya, who suffered from unrequited love, but who eventually found family comfort and peace; about Konstantin Levin, seeking peace of mind and the meaning of life; about the disagreements and tribulations of Dolly and Steve Oblonsky and so on. In addition, the novel reflects social changes in society, shows the life and life of not only noble families, but also peasants, describes methods of housekeeping and various opinions of the nobles regarding the transformation of their estates. However, the work is not limited to socio-psychological problems. Tolstoy is not only a writer and publicist, but also a religious thinker. The theme of religion, the adoption of birth and death occupies an equally significant position in the novel. It is no accident that the only chapter to which the author gives the title is called “Death”. One of the main characters, Konstantin Levin, whose prototype was Tolstoy himself, is characterized by philosophical reflections on faith.
I can say with confidence that Tolstoy’s novel “Anna Karenina” is so multifaceted that everyone can find a piece of himself in it, as I did. It can be called a work of all time. Personal searches of heroes, social problems and philosophical questions raised in him will always be in demand. Books give us invaluable life experience, and your favorite work can be re-read again and again, revealing all new details in it. That was Tolstoy’s novel “Anna Karenina” for me.
