The artist drew a simple but soulful plot: the soldier returned home. He is in well-worn clothes, with a duffel bag over his shoulders. A middle-aged man has no striking features: brown hair, like everyone else’s, slightly tanned skin, straight features. But at first glance we recognize the Russian man. By the way he gently hugs a birch. By how dreamily he looks around his native fields. By the way he yearned for Russia, he was so happy when he met her. It stands against a bright blue sky and yellow autumn fields. Directly under the hillock, where he stands, is a village. The rickety houses seem to meet the long-awaited owner. The soldier is surrounded by thin, crooked birches - symbols of Russian land. Under his feet are rare autumn flowers and golden foliage.
