(361 words) Cruelty is dangerous both for the one to whom it is directed, and for the one from whom it comes. A person can harm another person or a living creature, but even if he later repents of his actions, his life will be forever tarnished, since the perfect cannot be fixed. Thus, acting cruelly, he causes harm not only to others, but to himself. If people do not stop aggression in their thoughts and actions, then, ultimately, they can destroy each other and themselves. Confirmation of this point of view we can find in the literature.
We see cold-blooded cruelty in the work of F. M. Dostoevsky "Crime and Punishment." Raskolnikov, for the sake of confirming his theory, kills the percussionist. Despite timid protests of conscience, Rodion thinks that he himself belongs to that group of people who should live and rule, and the percentage-worker - to the majority that the chosen gentlemen can judge. Later, he understands the fallacy of his theory and suffers from an awareness of what he has done, but the job is already done, the old woman and her sister cannot be brought back to life. This work teaches us that we must not allow cruelty even in our thoughts. If you allow yourself to be cruel in thoughts - then you will allow in action. And this will certainly lead to disastrous consequences that can no longer be fixed.
The extreme degree of cruelty is expressed in the work of M. Gorky "The Old Woman Isergil." In the legend that Isergil tells, the son of the eagle Larr refers to people down, does not spare them at all. He kills an innocent girl, and considers himself entitled to commit such acts. Being released into the wild, he abducts people. And after a lot of time, when the proud son of an eagle tired of wandering alone, people could not give him even death. So, Larra was captured by his own cruelty and was doomed to eternal loneliness. This became his punishment. Larra’s behavior brought suffering to both his victims and himself.
Cruelty only creates suffering. I think if there weren’t there, then there wouldn’t have been murders, wars, terrorism. It makes people quarrel, and thereby disconnects us. Our task is to stop cruelty, first of all, in our own thoughts, in our behavior, learn to think and act kinder, appreciate the life of others and be able to sympathize. And then we will not accomplish what brings moral and physical suffering to others and to ourselves.
